Bell Hooks sums up my business vision perfectly with the quote:
"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion."
This became even more a reality for folks after the pandemic, needing to heal in community. Black Moon Bathhouse aims to provide that space to those who have historically been pushed to the margins.
Black Moon Bathhouse has moved from its idea stage to its proof of concept stage.
In full transparency, we had big dreams and struggled to scale them. We wanted a building to provide that Third Space women, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ folks needed for radical wellness. In the journey, through pop-ups, informational sessions, tabling events, and networking; we learned, a Third Space isn't just four walls it's how you HOLD that space for folks.
"What does moving into proof of concept phase MEAN?"
Well, it can mean A LOT of different things, but for us it means going mobile! While we continue our journey to a brick and mortar we want to bring the third space of radical wellness to YOU. That looks like bringing our mobile sauna and our quality wellness practitioners to spaces we have vetted as safe spaces or directly to you.
"Does this mean the business model has changed?"
Nope! We will still remain a co-op with an extensive list of quality wellness practitioners, the only thing that changes is where we will be. Instead of one space we will be at multiple. Those who have already pledged funding to Black Moon Bathhouse, will have FREE entry to all pop-ups had while we are in this phase of the business. This phase of the business is to 1. prove proof of concept to traditional funders and 2. fundraise for our brick and mortar space.
So, what's next:
Black Moon Bathhouse will fundraise through this campaign and through collaborative wellness events to raise the $100K needed for our mobile phase we are calling Waxing Moon Phase.
Break down of how funds will be used:
$60K- 2 mobile (1 cedar & 1 clear body) 8 person saunas with cold plunge, cedar shower, trailer, and generator
$20k- Start up operations cost (cleaning, laundry, insurance, gas, etc.)
$20k- Start up event cost (paying vendors, renting venues)
